To say the least, this image is perfect. The symmetry and depth are great, and the tones in the sky behind the sharp contrast of the wood and shadows are really beautiful.

Without the silhouette of the person, I probably would have considered this boring. But with that distant (ah, yes, great title!) figure, there is a human story – something very important in order to create a worthwhile picture. All of the lines in this shot lead to the person, so the eye is inevitably drawn to that focal point.

My favourite thing about the boardwalk is the lighting. The shadows pick up an unimaginable amount of detail in the contours of the wood, and each board is a tiny bit different. I think it's a very cool effect to have one side illuminated by the sun and one hidden in shadow.
Without the great clarity, however, all of that would have been for nothing. Amazing focus.

The background is wonderful – a perfect amount of detail: simple enough not to distract from the boardwalk and figure, but detailed enough to be beautiful all on its own. I especially love the sky – the soft tendrils of cloud are lovely.

The only thing I think I would suggest changing is having the person a bit closer, and maybe try some different positions. All in all, though, this is fantastic.
